# Terms of Use — Assume It
Last updated: August 2, 2026 Please read these Terms of Use ("Terms") before using Assume It ("the app"). By downloading or using the app, you agree to these Terms.
## The app
Assume It is a personal practice tool for writing, recording, and revisiting personal “scenes.” It is intended for relaxation, reflection, and self-guided mental rehearsal.
## Not medical or professional advice
Assume It is not a medical device and does not provide medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Content in the app (including any references to research) is for general informational purposes only. If you are experiencing distress or a medical or mental-health condition, please consult a qualified professional. Do not use the app's audio while driving or operating machinery.
## Subscriptions
Premium access is offered as an auto-renewable subscription (monthly or annual), sold through the Apple App Store. Android Premium is unavailable unless and until a configured Android release displays Google Play subscription options. When those options are available, Android Premium is offered as an auto-renewable subscription (monthly or annual) sold through Google Play. For a purchase you choose, payment is charged to the applicable Apple Account or Google Play account at confirmation.
- No free trial or introductory offer is available. Subscriptions are paid from the first billing period.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel before the next renewal. Apple may charge the renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Deleting your Assume It account does not cancel a subscription. If Google Play subscription options were available in your Android release and you subscribed there, manage or cancel it in Google Play's subscription settings.
- Apple purchases can be restored through the app using Apple's StoreKit, including the app's “Restore Purchases” option, and refund requests for Apple purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's App Store refund policy. If Google Play subscription options are available in your configured Android release, Google Play purchases can be restored or reconciled through Google Play Billing, and refund requests are handled under Google Play's policies. Where applicable law requires otherwise, mandatory consumer rights prevail.
- Prices are shown in the app before purchase and may vary by region.

## Accounts, permissions, and external services
A paying customer does not need an Assume It account. Sign-in is optional. On iOS, account providers currently offered are Apple, Google, or email; Microsoft remains hidden pending publisher verification. On Android, Google or email sign-in is available only when the release includes its Firebase configuration; otherwise account sign-in is unavailable. Features such as recording, iPhone dictation, reminders, and Auto appearance require the relevant device permission; you can decline a permission, but the related feature may be unavailable or use its stated fallback.

The app can open Privacy, Terms, Support, and cited research pages in a browser when you select their links. Apple, Google, Firebase, website hosts, and linked third-party sites operate under their own terms and policies. Links to studies are provided for general information and do not promise a particular result or endorse every statement on the destination site.

Apple, Google Play, and other applicable store or platform terms may also apply. Where required, mandatory platform terms control to the extent of any conflict with these Terms, and mandatory consumer protections remain in force.

## Your content
Scenes and recordings you create are yours and are stored on your device (see the Privacy Policy). On iPhone, if you opt in to personal widget excerpts, short excerpts are also stored locally in the app's shared widget container. Optional account sign-in does not sync your scenes or recordings. You are responsible for the content you create.

## Acceptable use
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, redistribute, sell, sublicense, or create derivative works from the app or its content except as permitted by law; attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app; or engage in unlawful misuse of the app. You agree not to misuse the app or use it in violation of applicable law.

## Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The app may be interrupted, unavailable, delayed, or contain errors or other defects, and we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. The app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

## Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Mandatory consumer protections and other rights that cannot lawfully be waived remain available to you.

## Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
