Assume It Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 2, 2026 Artifex Innovations LLC ("we," "us")
Assume It is built to keep your personal practice personal. This policy explains what information the app handles, why it is handled, and where it goes.
Scope
This policy applies to Assume It on iOS and Android and to Assume It-related pages and services on artio.space. It describes information Artifex Innovations LLC handles through the app and those pages. It does not replace the privacy policies of Apple, Google, Firebase, Squarespace, Microsoft, or another service you reach through a link or feature.
How we use and disclose information
We use the information described below to provide, secure, maintain, and support Assume It, respond to messages, process the account and entitlement choices you make, and comply with applicable law. We disclose information to the service providers and third-party platforms described in this policy when needed to provide the feature you choose, and when disclosure is required or reasonably necessary for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or safety purposes. The app's private scenes and recordings are not used for these purposes.
Artifex Innovations does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use account, diagnostic, or sign-in interaction information for advertising, cross-app tracking, or profiling.
Your scenes and voice recordings
The scenes you write and the scene recordings you make are stored locally in the app's private storage. We do not upload, read, or receive them. On iPhone and iPad, the widget uses built-in Daily Lines by default. If you opt in to “Show my scenes on the widget,” short excerpts from your scenes are copied locally to Apple's App Group storage so the app and widget can share them. Turning that setting off clears the shared excerpts.
On Apple devices, iCloud device backup may include locally stored app content according to your iCloud settings and Apple's privacy terms. The current Android app disables Android system backup of its private app data.
Optional accounts and sign-in
A paying customer can use Assume It without creating an Assume It account. If you choose an available sign-in option, the selected identity provider and Firebase Authentication (a Google service) process the account details needed to authenticate you. Available providers depend on the platform and build: iOS currently offers Apple, Google, or email; Microsoft support is implemented but hidden pending publisher verification. Android can offer Google or email when its Firebase configuration is present. Depending on the option you choose, these details may include your name, email address, and a unique user identifier.
We use account information to:
sign you in and keep your session active,
protect and operate your account, and
check whether your account has complimentary access.
If you choose Google Sign-In, Google Sign-In and Firebase Authentication may process your name, email address, phone number, user and device identifiers, IP-derived general location, other authentication or technical data, and sign-in interaction data. Google Sign-In declares these data as linked to you for authentication and app functionality and, for some technical, identifier, and usage data, service analytics. Assume It requests only Google's basic profile scopes and does not use Firebase phone authentication; Artifex Innovations uses the returned account identity only to sign you in, secure your account, and check complimentary access.
Firebase Authentication separately declares limited diagnostic data that is not linked to you for service analytics. Artifex Innovations does not use account, diagnostic, or sign-in interaction information for advertising, cross-app tracking, or profiling.
Microphone and speech recognition
Assume It requests microphone access when you choose to record a spoken scene. On Apple devices, it may also request microphone and speech-recognition access when you choose to dictate scene text.
On Android, if you grant microphone access during onboarding, the app may briefly sample microphone input on-device to animate a live voice-level ribbon; that onboarding sample is not saved or transmitted.
Scene recordings are saved locally for your playback and are not sent to us.
Dictation on Apple devices uses Apple's Speech framework. iOS processes speech on your device when supported. Otherwise, iOS may send speech audio to Apple for transcription under Apple's privacy terms. We do not receive that speech audio. The Android app does not send scene text to an Artifex Innovations speech-recognition service.
Location
If you enable Auto appearance, the app can use an approximate location to match day and night themes to local sunrise and sunset. The app caches the approximate coordinate locally so the theme can continue to work between launches. Assume It does not transmit that coordinate to our servers.
This on-device appearance feature is separate from the IP-derived general location that Google Sign-In may process when you choose Google authentication, as described above.
Notifications
If you enable reminders, the app schedules local notifications on your device. Assume It does not send reminder content to our servers.
Purchases
Apple processes iOS subscriptions and payment information through the App Store. In an Android release configured to display Google Play subscription options, Google processes Android subscriptions and payment information through Google Play. We do not receive your card or bank details. The app reads applicable store entitlement information to determine whether Premium access is active.
When Google Play subscription options are configured on Android and you make or restore a purchase, the app may send the app package name, product ID, Google Play purchase token, and a short-lived Play Integrity attestation token to Artifex Innovations’ HTTPS verification service. We use these data only to verify the purchase and decide whether Premium access is active; they do not include your card or bank details. When this configured Android path is used, Google Play services may process limited security, integrity, purchase, and service-diagnostic data under Google's Privacy Policy.

Privacy, Terms, Support, and “Read the studies” links open artio.space or a cited DOI, PMC, or publisher page in a browser only when you select them. The destination may receive standard web-request information such as your IP address, browser or device details, and the page requested under its own privacy policy. Assume It does not include your scenes, recordings, reminders, or locally cached Auto appearance coordinate in these links.
Diagnostics, analytics, advertising, and tracking
The Assume It apps do not include advertising SDKs or cross-app tracking. The iOS app does not present an App Tracking Transparency prompt. Artifex Innovations does not analyze your scenes, habits, or recordings. Google Sign-In and Firebase Authentication may perform the limited sign-in service analytics described above. We do not sell or rent personal information.
Website contact and launch notifications
If you email us or submit your email through a launch-notification form, we and the website or email service processing the form receive your email address and any message you send so we can respond or send the requested launch update. This website contact information is separate from scenes, recordings, reminders, and other content stored in the app.
Website analytics
When you visit artio.space, Squarespace hosts and delivers the site. The site also uses Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand visits and improve the website. These services may use cookies or pseudonymous identifiers and process information such as browser and device details, IP-derived general location, traffic source, pages visited, clicks, scrolling, interaction playback, errors, and performance data. Microsoft states that privacy-sensitive fields are masked in Clarity recordings.
Website analytics do not receive the scenes, recordings, reminders, or other private content stored inside the Assume It app. Artifex Innovations does not use these website tools to serve ads or connect website behavior to activity inside the app. Google, Microsoft, and Squarespace process website data under their own terms and privacy policies. You can limit cookies through your browser or device settings.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information we handle. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International and service-provider processing
Artifex Innovations LLC is a U.S. company. Information may be processed in the United States and in other countries where Artifex Innovations or a service provider operates. Firebase and Google, Apple, Squarespace, Microsoft, and other providers named in this policy may process information to provide their services. Their own privacy policies govern that processing; this policy does not make claims about practices not described here.
Privacy choices and rights
You can manage local scenes, recordings, reminders, appearance, and optional widget excerpts through Assume It and your device settings. You can manage browser cookies through your browser or device settings and manage third-party account or subscription choices through the relevant provider.
Depending on where you live and to the extent provided by applicable law, you may have rights to ask for access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information, or to object to or limit certain processing. Contact [email protected] for a privacy question or request. We may need information from you to locate the relevant account or verify that you are the person making the request.
Data retention and deletion
Scenes, recordings, reminders, and preferences remain in local app storage until you remove them or uninstall the app, subject to any device backup you control.
Account information remains with Firebase Authentication while your account exists. Account deletion uses platform-specific steps: on iOS, Apple sign-in requires recent Apple reauthentication and an attempt to revoke Apple's authorization token; a matching Google sign-in session is disconnected when available. On Android, the app deletes the Firebase Authentication account and attempts to clear Android Credential Manager state; email/password accounts have no provider token to revoke.
Complimentary-access records are separate from the authentication account. If an email address was granted complimentary access, that record may remain after account deletion. Email [email protected] to request its removal.
Provider records such as security or diagnostic logs may be retained by Apple or Google according to their own policies and legal obligations.
Configured Google Play verification records: If the Google Play verification path is enabled, Artifex Innovations may retain the purchase token or a protected token reference, product or subscription identifiers, verification timestamps and results, entitlement status, and limited fraud or security logs only as long as reasonably necessary to verify or administer Premium, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, or comply with law. The short-lived Play Integrity attestation is used for the verification request and is not used for advertising or profiling. Deletion requests for these records may be constrained where records are required for active entitlement, fraud or security, dispute resolution, or legal obligations.
Subscriptions are managed by the store where you subscribed. Deleting an optional Assume It account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription. Manage it through your Apple Account or Google Play subscription settings.
You may email [email protected] to ask what account or complimentary-access information we hold for your email address or to request deletion.
Account deletion requests
When account functionality is configured and you are signed in, the app provides Delete Account from its Settings account controls. On iOS this is in the Account section of Settings; on Android it is inside the Account dialog opened from Settings. If you cannot use the in-app route, request deletion by emailing [email protected] from the email address associated with your account (your account email) with subject “Assume It account deletion”. Use the associated email when available. If Sign in with Apple Private Relay prevents you from sending from the account email, or you otherwise cannot send from that account email, include the sign-in provider and the account email or identifier if known; Artifex Innovations may use reasonable verification, including identity verification, before acting on the request.
The in-app route deletes the Firebase Authentication account after any required recent sign-in or reauthentication. On iOS, Apple sign-in uses the fresh reauthentication and token-revocation steps described above; Google cleanup is best effort. On Android, the app attempts to clear Android Credential Manager state after deletion. It does not delete local scenes or recordings on your device, and it does not cancel or delete a store subscription, including an App Store or Google Play subscription.
For an emailed request, Artifex Innovations will review the request and may remove account or complimentary-access information that we control. We may retain limited information when legally required or when reasonably necessary to prevent fraud, resolve disputes, or document the deletion request.
Children's privacy
Assume It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will post the updated version with a new effective date.
